In 1917, the Marx Brothers began chicken farming on this land, building a livelihood while avoiding the draft during World War I.

The Lenoch family first opened the William Tell Restaurant & Banquets in downtown Chicago, and later opened another location in Countryside. It quickly became Chicagoland’s go-to spot for weddings, celebrations, and community gatherings.

Rebranded as a Holiday Inn, the property continued to welcome travelers and host events, carrying forward its reputation as a gathering place.

Embracing its original identity, the William Tell Hotel is revived in name and spirit—honoring its storied past while stepping boldly into a new era.

The Legendary Archer’s Tale

Inspired by the Swiss hero William Tell, who braved a test of skill by splitting an apple with his bow, our hotel honors enduring stories and celebrates the rebel in all of us.

Reflecting on our 1995 reception, I’m struck by the seamless grace of the entire evening. Even decades later, these images radiate the warmth of a milestone handled with absolute class.

A Legacy of Elegance

Our reception wasn’t just an event; it was a sensory experience, the heavy scent of lilies, the rhythmic clinking of crystal, and a ballroom that felt like it was breathing with us. Decades later, the elegance of that night hasn’t faded; it has simply matured into a timeless legacy.

I still smile thinking about that corporate retreat. It was where our team came together. Good times in a great place.
